MSLOOP PROJECT: THE NEW GENERATION OF CSP PLANTS

MSLOOP aims to validate a technology consisting of developing a cost effective solar field for CSP Parabolic Trough Power Plants using optimized ternary molten salts as HTF with an innovative hybridization system.

CADE takes part of the consortium together with COBRA, SCHLAICH BERGERMANN PARTNER, ARCHIMEDE SOLAR and UNIVERSIDAD COMPLUTENSE DE MADRID

cost effective solar field for CSP Parabolic Trough Power Plants

The MSLOOP 2.0 consortium consists of a multidisciplinary team formed by five partners from three European Union member countries (Spain, Italy and Germany) in strategic fields within solar thermal sector. This composition will boost an innovative development capable of achieving a strong positioning in the market.

The Kick-off meeting of the project Msloop 2.0 was held the 23th November 2016 at Cobra’s headquarters in Madrid. Five experienced institutions in strategic fields within solar thermal sector comprise the project.  The project is receiving funding from the EC under the Fast Track to Innovation Programme (H2020) that promotes close-to-the-market innovation activities.

During the kick-off meeting, the Consortium members discussed the status of the research area, project goals, and expectations of the different stakeholders with respect to the project outcome. An introduction of the main issues of the Work Packages was explained, describing the task involved in each one.

The members not only discussed about the organizational structure of the project and the technical content, but also they decided on matters related to the dissemination of results and the activities to be performed in the next 6 months.

CADE will be in charge of several WPs related to operation parameters optimization and reliability improvement, detail engineering, manufacturing and assembly supervision, operation and performance testing and validation, commercial scale up, reliability studies, among others.

How using green oxygen can reduce the costs of green hydrogen

Green hydrogen, produced by electrolysis of water, is a promising option for the transition to a more sustainable and decarbonised energy economy. In this process, electricity, ideally obtained from renewable sources such as solar photovoltaics, is used to break down water (H2O) into hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2). This hydrogen
