2nd WORKSHOP: ADVANCED ENGINEERING METHODS FOR EVALUATION OF CRITICAL EQUIPMENT AND PIPING SYSTEMS

Thursday, November 26th, 2015, Hotel Vía Castellana (Madrid)

Overview

The seminar shall be focused on the problematic, methodologies, novelties, and benefits associated to the evaluation and upgrade of critical equipment and piping systems in refineries, petrochemical and power plants by applying integrated engineering methodologies and the intensive use of advance analysis and simulation tools.

We will share with the attendants our experience over 12 years of experience and more than 1,000 projects carried out.

Content

By dissecting real study cases, it shall be shown both the casuistry and scope of application of the methodology described, as well as the benefits derived from it, technical and economical, on:

(1)  Design Stage: in order to attain more reliable, optimized designs. Also for those designs for which regular design codes are not of application.

(2) Operation Stage: for evaluating performance improvements, foreseeing in-service failures, and improving the efficiency and availability of equipment/process. .

(3) Re-rating: Validation of the design and evaluation of the impact on the remaining life of equipment/piping due to the redefinition of operating conditions or new process requirements

(4) Evaluation of in-service failure causes or definition of preventive/corrective measures. Fitness for Service-Integrity

When to perform a Water Hammer Analysis?

Purpose of Water hammer analysis One of the main purposes of water hammer analysis is to determine surge pressure or maximum expected pressure during transient conditions. This is of particular interest to evaluate operative scenarios: When a pump is suddenly stopped, a valve is closed, or any other scenario that

Atmospheric Boundary Layer: Assessing Wind Loads on Urban Structures

Accurate determination of the wind loads acting on urban structures is essential to ensure their safety and proper performance.  Influence of the Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL) A crucial aspect to consider in this process is the influence of the Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL), which can have a significant impact on the distribution and

Predictive Maintenance in Energy Plant Assets: Ensuring Efficiency

Predictive maintenance is a key strategy in industrial asset management, both in refineries and solar thermal plants. Unlike preventive maintenance, which is performed at fixed intervals, condition-based maintenance is carried out only when data indicates it is necessary. This optimizes resource use and reduces downtime. Predictive maintenance relies on monitoring
