ANEMIoT PV: RENOCICLA-Winning Project to Drive Ecodesign & Circular Economy in Solar Plants

Smart protection for solar plants: ANEMIoT PV

Our project “Smart Protection for Solar Plants ANEMIoT PV” has been awarded in the 1st Call of the RENOCICLA Programme, under Line 2 – Innovation projects in the ecodesign of capital equipment for renewable energy.

RENOCICLA promotes initiatives aimed at transforming the renewables sector in line with the principles of the circular economy, supporting the development of solutions that make the components of technologies such as solar panels, trackers, wind turbines or storage systems:

  • More durable

  • Easier to repair

  • Reusable

  • Recyclable at the end of their service life

The goal is clear: to extend the service life of renewable assets and facilitate their circular management, reducing waste, optimising resources and improving the overall sustainability of the energy system.

The solution: ANEMIoT

ANEMIOT

ANEMIoT is the CADE solution for advanced structural health monitoring and wind risk mitigation in photovoltaic plants, particularly in tracker systems. It combines distributed sensing, real-time analytics and smart event management to provide continuous supervision of structural behaviour under demanding environmental conditions, helping to prevent damage, reduce downtime and improve O&M decision-making.

The solution can be deployed on existing assets or in new installations, making it possible to detect anomalous patterns, characterise wind effects caused by aeroelastic phenomena and document structural performance with full traceability.

ANEMIoT is conceived as a technical support tool for operators and owners, providing objective evidence for risk assessment, post-event analysis, optimisation of operating strategies and reliability improvement throughout the project life cycle.

ANEMIoT makes it possible to:
  • Detect anomalous structural behaviour patterns

  • Characterise wind effects on trackers and structures

  • Prevent damage and reduce downtime

  • Document structural performance with traceability

CADE's experience in the photovoltaic sector

The development of ANEMIoT builds on CADE‘s solid track record in structural engineering and advanced analysis applied to photovoltaic installations. In recent years, we have been involved in the structural design, assessment and optimisation of solar plants and tracker systems, addressing complex wind-induced dynamic phenomena and fluid-structure interaction. This accumulated know-how enables us to transfer high-level analysis and modelling capabilities to the real operating environment, combining advanced engineering and digitalisation in the service of reliability and sustainability.

Ecodesign applied to operating assets

The solution can be integrated into both existing assets and new installations, becoming a technical support tool for operators and owners.

It provides objective evidence for:

  • Risk assessment

  • Post-event analysis

  • Optimisation of operating strategies

  • Reliability improvement throughout the project life cycle

From a RENOCICLA perspective, ANEMIoT contributes directly to:

  • Extending the service life of structural components

  • Reducing corrective interventions and premature replacements

  • Improving maintainability through data-driven decisions

  • Enabling more efficient and circular asset management

Being awarded in this call reinforces our commitment to an energy transition that is not only renewable, but also smarter, more resilient and fully aligned with the principles of the circular economy.
