Objetive
This initiative is promoted by a consortium of five companies led by SISTEM which, together with Aqualia, CADE, TRESCA y Energy Green Gas Tineo (EGGT), are embarking on a project that will last three years (2026-2029).
The ImpulSAF project aims to develop an integrated and innovative process for the valorisation of organic waste streams, including wastewater-derived residues and agro-industrial fatty wastes, into renewable energy carriers and fuel precursors such as biohydrogen, biomethane, renewable carbon, and intermediates for sustainable fuels (SAF, methanol).
The project combines biological, chemical, and thermochemical routes, including anaerobic digestion, supercritical water gasification, and advanced catalytic processes, together with innovative gas separation and purification technologies based on membranes and sustainable solvents. It also addresses the upgrading of oleaginous fractions to meet SAF specifications.
A holistic approach is adopted by evaluating the environmental, economic, and social sustainability of the process, aiming to deliver scalable and circular solutions for renewable fuel production without generating secondary waste streams.
