We are pleased to announce that CADE Soluciones de Ingeniería has been awarded the contract for the supply, installation, and commissioning of the Thermal Energy Storage Pilot Plant for the Iberian Centre for Research in Energy Storage (CIIAE). This initiative is part of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), promoted by the European Union through NextGenerationEU funds.
This project represents a strategic milestone for the future of energy storage in Spain and Europe, and marks a decisive step forward in the pursuit of innovative technological solutions that will accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable, secure, and efficient energy model.
Innovation applied to energy storage
The Thermal Energy Storage Pilot Plant will focus on the research, development, and validation of cutting-edge technologies, including:
- Molten salts, one of the most established thermal storage technologies for solar thermal applications.
- Phase Change Materials (PCM), capable of storing and releasing large amounts of energy during melting and solidification processes.
- Solid and adsorbent materials, with strong potential for thermal energy storage applications across different sectors.
- Heat transfer and regulating fluids, essential to improving efficiency and safety in energy systems.
The combination of these technologies will enable the CIIAE to advance its mission of becoming an international benchmark in energy storage, driving scientific knowledge and fostering collaboration among the public, private, and academic sectors.
Commitment to the energy transition
We embrace this challenge with enthusiasm, commitment, and responsibility, convinced that the pilot plant will mark a turning point in the efficient management of energy. The project not only strengthens our position as a leading engineering company in the energy sector, but also allows us to deliver value to society by developing technologies that facilitate decarbonisation and contribute to achieving European climate objectives.
We are proud of the trust placed in our team to deliver such a strategically significant facility. This achievement reflects the technical expertise, talent, and accumulated experience of CADE in technological innovation projects.
