Solar Process Steam Generation System: EDITOR Workshop June 2019

The presentation of a cost-effective and high performance concentrating solar thermal system (EDITOR) with concrete storage for process heat generation (Solid-TES) will take place in Cyrpus on 18th June 2019.

The 1st PTC system for industrial process heat in Cyprus

The aim of this workshop is to show the potential of using PTC system in Cyprus industries and to inform about planning and operation of the first plant of this type in the island.

Cyprus has excellent direct normal irradiance (DNI) resources of up to 2200 kWh/m2, making the parabolic trough collector (PTC) the perfect system for energy production at high temperature. The PTC system can exploit solar energy  to produce steam or hot water at the required temperature for the industrial sector and reduce its fuel consumption.

Targeted industry sectors for EDITOR Workshop

This workshop might be of interest to the following sectors:

  • Food and beverage factories
  • Concrete and cement industries
  • Plastic industries
  • Laundry

Program

  • 14:00  Welcoming and introduction
  • 14:15  Presentation of PTC system & concrete thermal energy storage
  • 15:30  Presentation of the experience with the solar plant and KEAN’s benefits.
  • 16:00  Break (optional visit to poster stands)
  • 16:30  Tour of the solar system at KEAN
  • 18:00   End of workshop

About KEAN Soft Drinks’ Factory

KEAN is one of the biggest soft drinks industries in Cyprus, where the first PTC system for industrial process heat in Cyprus has been successfully installed and is now in operation. In combination with an implemented concrete thermal energy storage (C-TES), the system enables dispatchable steam supply and satisfies the thermal energy needs even in the winter period.

About Concentrated Solar Thermal

The C-TES constructed by CADE (Solid-TES) covers a constant thermal demand and delivers thermal energy during all the productive period. It consists of four concrete blocks with embedded tube bundles and can be operated with different operational targets.

THE-NEED-FOR-AUTOMATION

The Need for Automation in the Area of Mechanics and Simulation

Modern industry demands efficiency, precision and speed, especially in the field of mechanical engineering and simulation. Automation has emerged as a crucial answer to these demands, and tools like Python and IronPython are leading this revolution, particularly in environments like ANSYS. In this post, we’ll explore why automation is essential

How using green oxygen can reduce the costs of green hydrogen

Green hydrogen, produced by electrolysis of water, is a promising option for the transition to a more sustainable and decarbonised energy economy. In this process, electricity, ideally obtained from renewable sources such as solar photovoltaics, is used to break down water (H2O) into hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2). This hydrogen
